Wherever you choose to cast your line, be it Mistassini Lake or the historical  Rupert River, the hundreds of clear, cold lakes and rivers of Eeyou Istchee are waiting for you. The fresh waters of Eeyou Istchee are an ideal habitat for lake trout, speckled trout, walleye and northern pike. Your Cree outfitters and guides have been fishing here for many years and they know the habits of the fish as well as the often quickly changing conditions of weather and wind on our lakes.

While in Eeyou Istchee you'll stay in comfortable, well-maintained outfitting camps and lodges and can choose from European or full American Plan packages.

What's in season

Fishing season for northern pike, lake trout and speckled trout is from June to September. Check with your outfitter for exact dates.

Fishing licences

Anglers must purchase provincial fishing and hunting licences, available in most sporting goods stores and from a number of Cree outfitters.

Eastmain - Eastmain outfitters invite you to test your craft and muscle against such prize game as northern pike, walleye, speckled trout, and lake trout.  We maintain a “no kill” catch and release policy for pike and speckled trout, but you can enjoy your catch of walleye and lake trout under five pounds for shore lunch or dinner.

Chisasibi - Fish for walleye, pike, lake trout, or speckled trout, or hunt for caribou accompanied by expert guides. This is a fly-in site, and is also accessible by canoe. European package plans are available.

Chisasibi - Lake and river fishing is available for pike, lake trout, and speckled trout. Also, caribou hunting is sometimes available. Inquire about both the American and European-style plans.

Roggan River Outfitters

Chisasibi - For fishing excursions with experienced guides, in pursuit of lake and speckled trout, and northern pike. Both American and European plans are available.

Min-A-Wan Fishing Camp

Chisasibi - Located on the shores of Lake WaWa, approximately 50 miles northeast of Radisson, offering easy access to two major lakes. These lakes are home to walleye, speckled trout, the larger lake trout, and northern pike. The camp can be reached by floatplane and offers heated cabins with running water, as well as hot meals served in a separate dining facility.

Moonhesan Julien Lake

Chisasibi - Both European and American packages are available to fish for pike, speckled and lake trout.

Seal River Fishing Camp

Chisasibi - Fly-in camp, accessible by floatplane or by boat from James Bay. Both river and lake fishing are available for such prize catches as six-pound to twenty-pound northern pike, as well as both speckled and lake trout.

Nouchimi Tourism

Chisasibi - For experienced hunters with their sights set on caribou, the Nouchimi Camp provides a marvellous opportunity. Our experienced camp staff can point out prime hunting spots. For those who are more inclined to fish, we invite you to come in pursuit of giant northern pike, delicious walleye, and speckled and lake trout.

Musk-ox Adventures

Chisasibi - Hunters and fishers can benefit from the generations of experience and knowledge that we have to offer. Our waters teem with large numbers of walleye, ranging in size from two to eight pounds, similarly sized speckled trout, and their larger relatives, the lake trout. For a weightier challenge, try northern pike, tipping the scales at up to 20 pounds.

Chisasibi - Our fishing camp is ideally situated about 30 miles north of the town of Radisson, on the northern shore of Roggan Lake. We offer excellent speckle and lake trout fishing, and trophy-sized northern pike can also be hooked.
