The community of Nemaska which means "Place to Fish" is nestled on the shore of beautiful Champion Lake. Nemaska has been called "the heart of the Cree Nation" and when you look at the map you will see that we are very much in the centre of Eeyou Istchee. Nemaska is a wonderful place to relax while taking in the natural beauty of our vast territory. From here you can travel easily to the other communities, or explore the surrounding wilderness in any season. Of course, after spending a night or two in our exceptional lodge and sampling the fare of one of the region's best chefs, you may decide that there's no reason to leave!
When you are ready to venture farther afield, we can provide you with all the supplies, transportation, information and facilities you need. Our experienced hunters and trappers can help you find the best spots for whatever activity you have planned, from white-water kayaking or canoeing to wilderness camping or fishing. We can fly you to one of our beautiful lakes for an exceptional backcountry experience, or help you navigate the many snowmobile trails that wind through our vast territory.
